Còisir Ghàidhlig Astràilianach, Australian Gaelic Singers, was founded in 1982 and has been making music ever since, and we remain the only choral group promoting Gaelic Music in NSW at this time.  We're a mixed - voice choir, and whilst interested in promoting Scots Gaelic music and culture we enjoy ourselves at the same time. We bring the sound of Scotland's Highlands and Islands to concerts, cèilidhs and all manner of Scottish events. We are proud to have been in the forefront of promoting Gaelic culture and music in Australia and in NSW in particular.

We have competed at an International level in Scotland and our programme has included various eisteddfods in NSW, in which  we performed remarkably well for a choir singing “ethnic” music in multicultural Australia.

But it isn’t all about the competitive environment – it’s also about the fun, enjoyment, or light-hearted mischief in a social environment; we have a reputation for enjoying ourselves as much as our music. One of the choir's main purposes is the learning, practice, but above all, enjoyment of Gaelic Choral Song, with room for soloists or small groups from within the choir.   Stay awhile on our website,  and maybe you’ll decide that you’d like to join us. You’ll be very welcome, the choir is open to all, whatever your background.  The only pre-requisites are willingness to learn and lots of enthusiasm! A knowledge of Gaelic and/or music is not essential.

We hope you enjoy reading about the choir and that you might consider joining us as we aim to help promote Gaelic language and music.  We are always keen to welcome new members, so why not come along to meet us at our weekly rehearsal?  A friendly welcome is guaranteed.
